Some other oddities of the email include the game having a release date listed for Summer 2022, which is when we're supposed to receive more info, and the soonest we're expecting to see SF6 launch is the first quarter of 2023. There's more than a decent shot that SF6 will include some time travel shenanigans set up in Rose's SF5 story, but 16 years just sounds like way too much time for G and Gill to be running around doing their things. That would be a huge jump forward in the timeline that the series hasn't really attempted before, and though Ryu and Luke do look older in the teaser, it's hard to believe that the new protagonist would be in his mid-30's at least for his leading debut. While many of the picks are no-brainers to return, there are some more curious choices among them that instantly raise red flags like Adon, Guy (who was kinda replaced by his master Zeku in Street Fighter 5 though not as much of a stretch) and one of the most hated world warriors in Street Fighter history with El Fuerte.Īlso note that Ken Masters is the only character listed with a last name despite Sakura, Sean and Laura having canon family names too.Īs for the plot, the only relevant piece of info we didn't already know is that SF6 takes place 16 years after the events of Street Fighter 3. The alleged leak lists 17 characters featured on SF6's roster as returning fighters with Ryu, Ken, Alex, Sean, Chun-Li, Sakura, Rashid, Laura, Akuma, Yang, Yun, El Fuerte, Abel, Guy, Cody, Adon and Menat - although Luke, who was prominently in the teaser trailer, is absent. Even though the posted email looks pretty official and legitimate at first glance, there's a lot about it that raises doubts when looking a little closer.
